Course Overview
Delegates on the Applied Finance course will gain valuable insights and experience in understanding the concepts, risks and opportunities of using financial metrics in their business and funding decisions. They will compare Islamic financing principles with traditional (Western) concepts.
Participants will practice making business decision based or key ratios, such as return on investment. The delegates will assess pricing of access to different forms of funding and the benefits and drawbacks of each. They will acquire knowledge and practice skills with real cases.

- Describe the relationship of Risk and Return.
- Assess business risk given industry and economic considerations.
- Explain the concept of Time Value of Money (TVM).
- Calculate the Net Present Value (NPV) of a project.
- Describe the different forms of financing a firm or project.
- Identify various Debt instruments, including Bonds & Sukuk.
- Describe Equity instruments and their uses and valuation.
- Analyse Investment Decisions based on ROA & ROE.
- Describe the role of Capital Markets in providing access to funding.
